Florida existing home sales improve in April compared to March 2008. A Total of 11,200 existing single-family homes changed hands in April, a 20 percent increase over the previous month when 9,330 homes sold.  In the year-to-year comparison, a total of 11,200 existing homes sold statewide last month while 12,358 homes sold in April 2007 for a decrease of 9 percent.

Basically what he says is that while some pain occurs when taxable values drop, "the city's tax base is still well ahead of inflation and population growth in a six-year perspective."  He also presents other statistics to support the increase in sales of existing homes in SW Florida.   

 I believe while we may be holding the record for foreclosed properties, we will lead the nation out of this mess and end up with a leaner more efficient government.
